About
I was born in 1964 in the western part of Berlin. I live and work as a freelance artist, photographer and curator in Berlin. Since 2017 I have also been the managing director and project manager of the RAY Photography Triennial in Frankfurt.
At the age of 15, I lived alone in my parents' apartment, who had separated, in the remaining furniture and things. It was during this time that I discovered the world of photography and started developing films and photos in the darkroom. Immediately after leaving school, I completed a three-year traineeship as a theater sculptor in the sculpting and laminating workshop of the Deutsche Oper Berlin and worked on the productions. From 1987 to 1994 I studied art at the Berlin University of the Arts and have been a member of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes since 1991.
Since my student days, I have been working on the phenomena of personal memory, the aura of places and things as well as the emergence of personality cults and identity - those of boundaries and deviations from 'normality'. I work with various media such as installation, film, photography and photo books.
